L’obiettivo del cluster è di accelerare la duplice transizione verde e digitale dell'economia, dell'industria e della società europee al fine di conseguire la neutralità climatica in Europa entro il 2050. Il passaggio alla neutralità climatica, insieme a una più rapida digitalizzazione e a cambiamenti economici e sociali accelerati, trasformerà infatti i settori dell'energia e della mobilità nei prossimi decenni rendendoli sempre più interconnessi. La ricerca e l'innovazione influenzeranno pesantemente la velocità con cui queste transizioni potranno avvenire, attraverso lo sviluppo di un ampio portafoglio di alternative climaticamente neutre per le attività che producono emissioni, basate spesso su un maggiore accoppiamento settoriale, la digitalizzazione, l'integrazione dei sistemi e lo sfruttamento, ove opportuno, dell'esistente programma di osservazione e monitoraggio della Terra Copernicus.
Le destinazioni e i bandi del programma di lavoro Climate, Energy and Mobility
Nell'ambito di questo cluster, le call mirano a sostenere il raggiungimento delle zero emissioni di gas a effetto serra nei settori dell'energia e della mobilità, aumentando la loro competitività, resilienza e utilità per tutti i cittadini.
Più specificamente, il cluster 5 mira a contribuire a sei impatti previsti nel Piano Strategico, attraverso le destinazioni (=obiettivi) corrispondenti in questo programma di lavoro:
