Le attività del cluster contribuiscono principalmente a tre Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile fissati dalle Nazioni Unite:
- SDG 10 (Ridurre le disuguaglianze),
- SDG 13 (Agire per il clima),
- SDG 16 (Pace, giustizia e istituzioni forti).
Gli investimenti in ricerca e innovazione previsti dal cluster ‘Sicurezza Civile per la Società’ hanno l’ambizione di contribuire al raggiungimento di una condizione di sicurezza e stabilità dell’Unione.
I finanziamenti sono caratterizzati da una visione di lungo termine, basata sull’anticipazione e sulla preparazione, e favoriscono il passaggio da un approccio reattivo ad un approccio proattivo al tema della sicurezza, in grado di sostenere lo sviluppo di strategie e di capacità di prevenzione e rispondere prontamente a sfide sociali e tecnologiche in rapida evoluzione.
Il cluster supporta l’attuazione delle principali politiche europee in materia di sicurezza, cybersicurezza, riduzione del rischio di disastri e resilienza, tra cui:
- la strategia sulla sicurezza dell’Unione (2020)
- il nuovo patto sulla migrazione e l’asilo (2020)
- le politiche di riduzione del rischio di disastri,
- la strategia per la sicurezza marittima (2014)
- la strategia di cybersicurezza (2020),
- il programma di lotta al terrorismo (2020)
- la strategia di adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici (2021).
Quattro sono le aree di impatto delineate nel piano strategico 2021-24 a cui questo cluster contribuisce:
- un’Unione europe resiliente preparata contro le minacce emergenti;
- una società europea sicura, aperta e democratica;
- tecnologie digitali sicure e cyber-sicure;
- un’economia dei dati competitiva e sicura.
